“…the person-centred counsellor has an optimistic perspective on the inherent potential of the human being….believes that all clients have within themselves vast resources for development.”
Mearns & Thorne, P14 & P15

“The person-centred approach challenges each person to accept responsibility for his or her own life and to trust in the inner resources which are available to all those who are prepared to set out along the path of self-awareness and self-acceptance.”
Mearns & Thorne P6

My Approach

Although I trained originally as a person-centred counsellor (and my roots are still in this) I use a variety of techniques as appropriate. These may include cognitive behavioural techniques, gestalt work, creative approaches, hypnotherapy and emotional freedom therapy (EFT). I believe that by having a large ‘toolbox’ with which to approach problems, I can cater for individual needs and personalities.

For drug and alcohol problems (including Smoking Cessation) I can also offer Auricular (Ear) Acupuncture, which is a helpful technique when dealing with withdrawal symptoms. (Please note: this is a specific technique, and I do not offer full body acupuncture.)
